Let's take a look at the review of the 11th anniversary of the HWPL Declaration of World Peace that took place on May 25, 2024.

"Do you know what day May 25th is?"
It marks the 11th anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace, proclaimed at the Seoul Olympic Park in 2013!
Today, let's learn about “the event of HWPL’s 11th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace”, and tell you about ‘The Horrors of War’ starting with the first part.
We need to recognize the horrors of war and work together to bring about a world of peace as soon as possible.
On October 7, 2023, we heard the news that the armed group Hamas from Palestine had launched a surprise attack on Israel.
Many people were deeply saddened by this news. "Is it another religious war?"
The ongoing Middle Eastern conflicts since the 1970s have caused countless casualties. The reason they claim is to reclaim the land they lost.
However, under that pretext, many people have lost their families and homes.
Their claim is that the war is to ensure everyone lives well. Do they realize the horrific atrocities they are committing?
The aftermath of war leaves people with indelible scars, turning them into homeless wanderers with nowhere to go.
On June 25, 1950, Korea was also caught in the vortex of war, and everything was destroyed.
The Korean War, started by North Korea's surprise invasion, lasted for 3 years from 1950 to 1953, causing numerous casualties.
There were about 560,000 casualties among the ROK and UN forces, and about 640,000 casualties among the North Korean and Chinese forces, totaling about 1.2 million military casualties.
Including civilians, the Korean War claimed the lives of millions.
Wars lead to innocent sacrifices and the destruction of nature and homes. It results in a terrible outcome which there are no winners, only defeat.
To break this vicious cycle, a civilian peace organization has stepped forward.
This organization is HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), the world's largest civilian peace organization.
In 2013, at the Seoul Olympic Park, HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee declared the "HWPL Declaration of World Peace" before tens of thousands of people, vowing to end wars and achieve world peace.
And on May 25, 2024, across various locations in Korea, including Seoul, HWPL commemorated the 11th anniversary of the Declaration of World Peace with events and war experience booths to highlight the importance of peace.
Many citizens visited these events, and I also attended the 11th-anniversary event at the Seoul Olympic Park, experiencing the horrors of war firsthand.
Experience Booth: Stories of Heroes
First, I entered the "Stories of Heroes" booth, where the sounds of gunfire and children's cries made it feel like a real war zone.
At the booth's entrance, a roulette wheel allowed participants to choose a role—soldier, student, or pregnant woman—and experience the war from their perspective. It gave me a realistic experience.
I chose to be a soldier, donned a uniform, and carried a 10kg military pack. Inside the booth, there were blood-stained uniforms, interviews with soldiers who lost their families, and heart-wrenching stories of children who lost everything to the war.
There were various other experience booths, which I explored, but I'll tell you more about those next time.
Wars are still happening worldwide, and peace is desperately needed on the Korean Peninsula.
As a citizen who loves and supports peace, I plan to participate in activities to achieve it.
