Who is Man Hee Lee, the Chairman of HWPL, the civilian peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light?

Sometimes I think about how the freedom we enjoy today is thanks to those who fought and gave their lives for the country. With gratitude for these fallen heroes, today I want to share the story of a global peace activist who experienced the Korean War.

This person is Man Hee Lee, the chairman of HWPL in South Korea. During the Korean War in 1950, he fought on the front lines, risking his life for the country. Having experienced the horrors of war firsthand, he understands the importance of peace better than anyone and is dedicated to spreading this message.

Since 2012, HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee, has embarked on a mission for world peace and the cessation of war.

His efforts have garnered significant attention from global media, and he has completed 31 peace tours to date. Born in 1931, Chairman Man Hee Lee has lived through key events in modern Korean history, including the Japanese occupation, the Korean War, and the Saemaul Undong (New Community Movement). Notably, when the Korean War broke out in 1950, he volunteered as a student soldier at the age of 17, serving on the front lines in an infantry unit and was discharged as a sergeant. Witnessing the horrific deaths of his comrades in this war led him to dedicate his life to the peace movement.

Approximately 80% of wars worldwide are tied to religious issues. In response to this, Lee Man-hee has stated, "When war occurs, people die. The wars that cause this cannot be considered the true religion of God," emphasizing that "the role of religion is to achieve a world of peace without war."
To leave peace as a legacy for future generations, HWPL and Chairman Man Hee Lee have proposed two main strategies for realizing peace: the Enactment of International Law for the Cessation of Wars and the Alliance of Religions.

With this answer for peace, HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee traveled the globe, spreading the message of peace. His peace efforts began to bear fruit at the World Peace Summit held on September 18, 2014, in Seoul.
This summit brought together over 200,000 participants, including political, religious, women's, and youth leaders from around the world, who collectively called for the enactment of international law for the cessation of wars and the alliance of religions.

Religious leaders from various faiths also agreed that for world peace, religious leaders must unite. Since the World Peace Summit, an annual commemoration of the World Peace Summit has been held every September. This event has become a significant occasion to remind the world of the importance of peace.

The peace initiatives of Chairman Man Hee Lee and HWPL continue to this day, with many people working together for a world united in peace. Recently, there was a very special day for citizens wishing for global peace. To build a world of peace established by citizens, HWPL members organize and commemorate peace events worldwide every May 25th.

In the following article, I will share vivid scenes from the recent peace event.
