[HWPL] Steps for Peace with Refugees in Georgia on World Refugee Day

 Hello, everyone! This is HWPL Supporters ONE.

Today, in recognition of World Refugee Day — a day for all humanity to remember — we would like to share a special story from HWPL’s Georgia branch.

Why has humanity still not become one?

We have experienced countless wars, yet we still have not reached a peaceful world.

Even now, because of war, people are losing their homes and crying out in pain around the world.

However, in these times, there is an organization proclaiming the slogan “We are one,” working to end wars and achieve practical peace.

That is Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), led by Chairman Man Hee Lee.

HWPL has worked actively for peace in solidarity with experts from various fields — politics, law, religion, education, media, women, and youth. 

In particular, together with international law scholars, they drafted the “Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)” and submitted it to the UN, striving to achieve lasting peace.

June 20 is World Refugee Day — an international day to honor refugees who have lost their homes due to conflict, persecution, or disaster, and to raise awareness of their rights and lives.

Many international organizations such as UNHCR and the Red Cross commemorate this day, HWPL also takes part in this important day.

Every year, HWPL’s Georgia branch continues to donate and volunteer to support refugees living in Clarkston, Georgia, USA.

Although Clarkston is home to thousands of refugees from more than 40 countries, 

they still face difficulties such as food insecurity, language barriers, and limited employment opportunities.

Warm Moments Together with Refugees in 2025

On June 21, HWPL, together with Threads of Hope and high school volunteers, did volunteer activites for 136 refugees.

They distributed 2,000  pieces of clothing to the refugees, and also carried out HWPL peace education programs for refugee children, offering not only material support but also educational value and emotional healing.

Sharing Warm Meals on June 22

The RLC organization, which signed an MOU with HWPL, prepared and served home-cooked meals to around 30 refugees.

The refugees expressed deep gratitude and kept that warmth in their hearts.

Promises for the Future

HWPL’s Georgia branch will continue offering practical support for refugees and to expand activities that promote understanding and awareness of refugees within the local community.

Heartfelt impression as a Supporter

Every time I witness these moments as a supporter, I realize that peace is not just an abstract concept, but something that can be made real through action.

A single piece of clothing, a warm meal, and peace education for children...These small seeds together will create the world without war that humanity dreams of.

HWPL’s activities on World Refugee Day went beyond simple volunteer work. They were meaningful acts of peace that helped refugees stand strong once again.

Peace is not something given to us by others; it is something we all create together.
